May 25, 2021 – Canadian Musician Terez releases new music video ‘This City’

Terez is getting ready to release her debut EP “Sad Girl Summer,” with “This City” being the second single from the project. “This City” is a pop ballad that brings all the nostalgic feelings of a lost romance.

Quote from Terez about “This City”

“This City” came out of one of my first song camps in Toronto. I moved there and realized I only really knew one or two people in the city, which made the first month there very lonely. While writing this song during the song camp, I realized that there were other lonely hearts in the room and we all related to the song in a different way. The writing session ended up with the other writers and I jumping on the couches with excitement that we made a song that spoke to each of us so much, and that’s when “This City” was born.

February 5, 2021 – Interview with electro-pop/rock singer-songwriter Terez

Today on What On What’s Good with Jovin Tardif, I am here with Terez.  Terez is a Canadian Pop Artist based out of Calgary AB and Toronto ON.  She has built up a musical repertoire consisting of over 500+ original tracks.  She has the ability to blend genres, mixing pop, R&B and punk rock.  The artist is getting ready to release her first EP, with “Hot Mess” as its first single.

1. What sort of instruments do you play and when did you learn them?

I play both guitar and piano. I’m mostly self taught and started learning when I was about 10 years old.

2. Do you have any tips for songwriting?

Have fun with songwriting and don’t take it too seriously, you’ll probably write 100+ songs before you feel like you’ve written a great song. Don’t be discouraged, each song you write makes you a better writing and helps you practice and grow. If you’re feeling stuck then maybe try getting a fortune cookie and forcing yourself to write a song based on the fortune you receive, switch up your environment, or your approach. Enjoy the process and let yourself write without judgement. Each “bad” song is a stepping stone to the next hit!

3. What was it like collaborating with Nicole Arbour?

Nicole has been like a mentor to me, she has given me so much knowledge about business, the entertainment industry, and how to make it in the US as a Canadian. The Internet only saw the Taylor Swift cover we filmed together, and didn’t get to witness her kindness of introducing me to music industry people, giving me tough love when I needed it, and helping me kick-start my social media following. Her “GO TEAM” mentality is not a facade – it amazed me to watch her carry that attitude and generosity everywhere she went.

4. Describe what it was like meeting and sharing the stage with Keith Urban?

As you can imagine, it was really freaking cool! He’s such a talented musician and an amazing human, I was extremely grateful that he let me share the stage with him. I was quite nervous and was shaking in my platform heels (which I could barely walk in, in the first place), but it was a phenomenal and inspiring experience despite the nerves. I think very highly of Keith as a musician, and can’t wait to pull up-and-coming musicians up on stage with me when the time comes.

5. What’s the story behind “Hot Mess”?

This song was born out of leaving my wallet in an Uber after a night out (don’t worry, I got it back), and was written to poke fun at myself for doing so. I hope that this song can pick people up if they’re having a rough day, give them humor instead of frustration, and the license to be imperfect and love themselves for it!

6. What can you tell us about your debut EP dropping in summer 2021?

It will be all new music, you can expect catchy Pop melodies, the attitude of Punk Rock, and soulful R&B touches. My new single ‘Hot Mess’ is kicking off this new “era” of Terez. I have been writing like crazy over the past 2 years and feel so confident in the track list for this EP. The songs cover so many different topics from mental health to social media, heartbreak, revenge, and SO much more. I’m eager for my fans to hear these songs – I put a lot of pink, sweat, and tears into this project and feel like it’s a perfect reflection of where I’m at in my life and my career.

7. What can we expect from the music videos?

Expect some easter eggs hinting at what’s coming next, lots of dramatics, and unique aesthetics. My team and I have put a lot of work into create more of an “era” through these videos than just making individual music videos. Was that a little ambiguous? Heck ya it was, but I promise it will be worth the wait.
