On February 25, 1964, four icons celebrate one of the greatest upsets in boxing history. Cassius Clay (Eli Goree) got together with Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.) and Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) in a motel room in Miami.

Leslie Odom Jr. statement

It’s a fun movie and a good time. And then at the same time it’s the story of these four intelligent, influential guys, their friendship and the change they brought to what was happening in society. The audience can also expect some emotional sparks to fly.

Aldis Hodge statement

The film is unique in that it presents four powerful Black men challenging and supporting one another. We get to show men who are in different stages of their lives debating, arguing and
then figuring out how to come back together and get on the same page and not hold grudges. We see a lot of love, in a very different way, between these men.

Regina King statement

Throughout the process of making this film, I realized that in the past I’ve been guilty of looking at them as deities and forgetting to look at them as men first. And it made me realize what a huge amount of pressure that puts on a person, and how incredible it was that they were able to navigate so successfully with all of those expectations put on them.

Release date

The film will be available on Prime video on January 15, 2021.
