Pop noir Dark Tropics release ‘Moroccan Sun’

After hearing their debut single Badlands in February 2020, I couldn’t wait to hear some new music from pop-noir duo, Dark Tropics. Today I present to you their brand-new music video, Moroccan Sun. The group consists of musicians Rio and Gerard.

When asked about the song ‘Moroccan Sun’, frontwoman Rio said:

Moroccan sun was written as a narrative for my first travelling experience fully on my own. It’s letting go of what you believed to be your comfort, your light in life. Understanding that you will always have some constants, but things will change and mould around you, and embracing this brings a new sense of happiness. Taking the step to leave the old behind, move forward into the new and embracing a new chapter.

Both Rio and Gerard shared their thoughts on debut single, ‘Badlands’

Rio: “The lyrics were very much inspired by classic American Westerns, with the music being drawn more from film noir and dark speakeasy piano ballads. We thought we could marry those opposing themes and we think it’s worked.”

Gerard: “Badlands is our attempt to capture the feel of an epic western in a 3 minute pop song.”
