Johnny Ashby releases new single “Wild”

Johnny Ashby is a British singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. His latest single is “Wild

Ashby shares: “I’ve always written these songs about running away like I’m trying to escape from something and in a sense SOS was a part of that. Wild is written in the aftermath. Every time I’ve travelled to a new place I’ve noticed how it’s changed me and pushed me to grow spiritually in some way. When I write “Follow me into the wild” it’s like I’m back home after that adventure and I’m saying “Now what?”. That feeling after an adventure when you just want to go back out and find another one!”

Johnny’s new single “Lucky

Ashby confides: “I wanted to write a song that gave me a feeling of freedom. Sometimes, especially this last year, pursuing music can feel like a bit of a struggle. Sometimes the journey to any destination can feel the same too. But if you look close enough, often the journey is a beautiful one and the experience of getting to where you’re going is the thing that makes it what it is.”

Statement from Ashby about writing songs

When I write I imagine what the songs would be like live, that’s what’s most important to me. That’s what I’m aiming for.

In Bloom tracklisting

The album contains five-tracks

  1. “Never Let You Go”
  2. “In Bloom”
  3. “SOS”
  4. “Born Again”
  5. “Found You”

Quote from Ashby “In Bloom”

I love the piano melody in the bridge and I love the big U2 guitars on the outro. There’s so many sections and parts on this song, all these hooks intertwine together. I get really excited when that happens on a song. It’s what songwriting is all about for me.

Ashby describes “Found You”

It’s about being a kid and having an imaginary friend. I really like writing songs from that perspective.
