Miesha & The Spanks Release ‘Singles EP’ Today
Statement from Miesha about Singles EP
I hope these songs hit home for some people. Not feeling alone in our experiences, especially right now, is so important. As a new mom, I was already feeling a distance from my old life of never-ending rock shows and closing down after-hours bars with friends. We hadn’t toured since my pregnancy, and then we all got hit by a pandemic. It left a lot of time to think about where I was and how I got there, and here, and who I am and how it’s been going.
Singles EP is my second album recorded with Sean, and it’s some of the best stuff we’d been working on. We have great chemistry, both writing and spending way too much time in vans together, and I hope that comes across on this album.
Miesha statement about the featured track “I Used To Care (I Don’t Care)
I went through the same thing when I started, for years. You might not make a huge dent, in fact, the odds are against you. Eventually, you have to stop caring and just keep going and do it for yourself. I close the song out with one of my favourite Aretha Franklin lines, ‘Sisters are doin’ it for themselves — because we are.
