Borgen Coming Soon to Netflix
Borgen is coming to Netflix. Some fascinating news over at Netflix. Netflix partners with Denmark’s DR to bring the acclaimed TV series Borgen back to screens. Seasons 1 to 3 will be available on Netflix globally later this year. DR is the broadcaster behind several internationally acclaimed hit shows, such as THE KILLING, THE BRIDGE, and THE LEGACY.
Borgen is a Danish political drama series from 2010 starring Sidse Babett Knudsen and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen. Written by Adam Price for DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. The first season launched in 2010, the second season in 2011, and the third season was launched in 2013. Borgen season 1-3 was sold to more than 80 countries globally and won several prizes like the BAFTA Award (Best International), 2012, Peabody Award, 2014, Prix Italia Award (Best TV Drama), 2010, Fipa d’Or Grand Prize (Best Drama Series), 2011 and Golden Nymph Award (Best European Drama Series), 2013. Borgen will be produced by SAM Productions, a Danish screenwriter-based production company, and is written by Adam Price (Borgen, Ragnarok). The executive producer is Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen (Antichrist, Melancholia) and the producer is Stine Meldgaard Madsen (Ragnarok, Something’s Rockin’).
In the new series we will again follow Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen), her staff, and the media tasked with covering her, this time in her role as Foreign Minister. The show will also follow Katrine Fønsmark’s (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen) journey. After being Birgitte’s head of press for a while, in the new season she is back in journalism where she has landed a job as news director for a large, nationwide television station.
