You may have heard Tom Hanks announcement at the 92th Academy Awards ceremony. I knocked on a few doors and reached out to the Academy to get a little bit more information.
Guess what? It’s true. The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be open to the public on Monday December 14, 2020. Who’s excited about this news? I’m sold.
If you are a movie lover, I am sure you simply can’t wait. I’m currently picturing in my mind all of the possibilities. Just imagine. Doesn’t it just make you smile?
Academy Museum Director Bill Kramer: “We cannot wait to welcome the whole world to the Academy Museum. When our doors open on December 14, our thrilling combination of exhibitions, screenings, and public and educational programs will create unparalleled experiences for movie lovers everywhere.”
Academy CEO Dawn Hudson: “The dream of this museum will finally become a reality – a gathering place for filmmakers and movie fans from around the world, where we can share the Oscars legacy and further fulfill the Academy mission to connect the world through cinema.”
Ron Meyer, chair of the Academy Museum Board of Trustees and Vice Chairman of NBC Universal, said: “This is a museum that only the Academy could create: exciting and illuminating; historic and contemporary. We look forward to sharing the global reach of cinema.”
Do you want see one of the construction photos? I got you covered. (Looking both ways) … but you didn’t hear it from me.
