James Warren Morris James is a Composer, Orchestrator, and Arranger and has a Masters of Music in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games from Berklee College of Music. He has composed for a variety of short films and documentaries in a variety of genres including comedy, science fiction, and drama, among others. His compositions combine complex orchestration and melodies mixed with the organic sounds and strong counter melodies that he brings from his jazz background. James often utilizes electronic elements in his music to bring a cutting edge sound to the soaring melodies that are present in the music. He seeks to pin-point emotional aspects in the music that accent the picture accompanying it and create an emotional contour as a stand-alone source. He is continually searching for new opportunities to apply his craft to a range of media options and would love to be part of your production team. Contact#cinqque5tion with Composer James Warren Morris (by: Jovin Tardif)

We are professional storytellers producing documentaries, promotional films, art projects and commercial work. Our team of educators and community builders specialize in hands-on learning through story. Developing workshops for all ages, we deliver digital media curriculum for corporate groups as well as public, private and post-secondary schools. The company was started in 2005, by Colin Burwell – a budding entrepreneur then fresh out of college. Over a decade later the business has grown to be a trusted and recognized name throughout the Durham Region, Toronto and beyond. About Empty Cup Media creates high quality digital cinema + photo content. Our team approaches each project with an empty cup. Every story is unique and to be able to capture the essence within is to have the capacity to listen for it. The name “Empty Cup Media” is inspired by a Buddhist story. An American professor sat down with a Japanese Zen Master for some tea and to learn about Buddhism, Zen and enlightenment. The Zen Master poured his visitor’s cup full, and continued to pour. The professor watched the cup overflow until he cried, “My cup is full. No more will go in!” “Like this cup,” The Zen Master said, “you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I teach you unless you first empty your cup?” Carla Sinclair Director, Cinematographer, Editor, Teacher, Community Engagement Colin Burwell CEO, Cinematographer, Photographer, Teacher, EditorColin Burwell has been imagining through the lens from a young age. His skills today as a cinematographer have garnered him several awards for his documentaries “By Accident”, “Much Love Scott” and “Forget me Knots.” Colin’s knowledge and engaging personality earned him a teaching position at Durham College in the School of Media, Art and Design. Much of his career has been spent dedicated to facilitating many types of education. Colin writes and delivers customized photo and video workshops, volunteers with the Durham Region Film Festival and as a mentor for The Robert McLaughlin Gallery’s Media Team Carla Sinclair loves connecting with people in person and behind the lens. This thirst for story collecting has become a lifelong interest. Creating unique films to share dynamic tales of people throughout her travels, Carla is driven by education through story. Sinclair directed Empty Cup’s award winning documentary films “By Accident”, “Much Love Scott”, “Forget me Knots”, and first feature length documentary “Heal Myself”. Carla shares her passion for building community as the Manager of Volunteer and Community Development at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, as a teacher at Durham College, on the Durham Region Film Festival planning team and as an advisor for the City of Oshawa’s Cultural Leadership Council. #cinqque5tion with Empty Cup Media Colin and Carla (by: Jovin Tardif)

Michael was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and grew up in Richmond Hill, where he attended Holy Trinity School. With the original intention of becoming a doctor, Michael studied Human Biology at the University of Toronto. In his second year, he did some voice work for several student productions and caught the "acting bug". After graduating, he enrolled at the Toronto Film School (International Academy of Design and Technology) in the CBC Building and began auditioning for roles in theatre and independent film productions. He often volunteered to perform in student projects from the Film Production and Sound Engineering programs at the school and was interviewed by CBC Radio 1 for his work. In 2007, Michael landed his first theatre role as a Chinese pirate in the Toronto Pirate Festival's stage show. This was followed by Forward Theatre's critically acclaimed production of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" where he played Angus, and then the leading role in the Toronto Chinese Business Association's production of "The Legend of the Dragon Boat Festival". Michael's on-screen career began when he started doing background work on major productions. What he learned from those experiences prepared him for when he found an agent in order to audition professionally. Now, Michael works predominantly in film and television and has appeared in productions such as "Dan For Mayor", "Covert Affairs", "Slasher", and "Mayday". #cinqque5tion with Actor Michael Chan (by: Jovin Tardif)

I am Gianluca Olmastroni, a Toronto-based filmmaker and editor. I am always interested in working on exciting projects in film, digital media, and creative initiatives beyond. With over a decade in film/media production across two continents, I am experienced in multiple creative, technical and management roles. My diverse background has evolved from a film buff turned self-shooter, turned film analysis student, turned entrepreneur. I have been involved in various stages of professional media production for many years. From 2009 to 2015 I co-founded and ran Effetto Espanso, a small videography studio. I have dealt with corporate and creative work. I’ve provided services for clients and I’ve completed self-directed projects. I am used to working in teams, having held many different positions inside them. When I moved to Toronto to pursue a career in film and TV post-production, I embraced a self-starter attitude, and I'm used to tight deadlines. I have a comprehensive home studio set up, but I also am mobile and flexible when it comes to contracts and work hours. I am drawn to the energy of doing on-set work. I am fluent in various software and workflows, and I do my best to stay caught up with the always evolving technology. I'm comfortable with (but not limited to) the whole Adobe suite (including Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop), Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci Resolve. I have a film studies academic background, which I like to think enables me to produce visually compelling projects grounded in an understanding of film theory and grammar. Working in film and TV post-production is not just about knowing how to operate the suite or what are the fastest keyboard shortcuts, my goal is to merge my technical skills with my knowledge of film history and appreciation. When I am not working, I enjoy photography, walking around the city, cooking and, as you may have imagined, coffee ☕️Oh, and sticky notes! Grab yourself a cup of coffee, and take a look around! There are many examples of my previous work. Feel free to use any of the social media links below, or the Contact page.#cinqque5tion with Filmmaker and Editor Gianluca Olmastroni (by: Jovin Tardif)

“I invite you to look into the eyes of the homeless… they tell a story.” Homelessness is a serious problem throughout North America—even in Canada and the United States, two of the richest countries in the world. “We must stop this madness,” says Leah den Bok, the teenage Canadian photographer who travelled with her dad for over two years to cities throughout North America, photographing and interviewing the homeless. Leah was inspired by the story of her mother, who at three years old was rescued from the streets of Calcutta by Saint Teresa (formerly Mother Teresa). Nowhere to Call Home is a collection of gritty, black-and-white photographs and the personal stories of individuals who live on the streets. The haunting beauty of the images will stay with you, long after you turn the last page. Net proceeds from the sale of this book are given to the Salvation Army Barrie Bayside Mission Centre. Volume Two continues where my first book left off, with forty photographs and stories of people experiencing homelessness. It is a part of my ongoing mission to change the general public's perception of those experiencing homelessness. So often they are viewed as subhuman creatures, or a lower order of being than human. Through my photographs and stories I am trying to humanize them, to help the general public see that, apart from the unfortunate circumstances in which these people find themselves, they are no different than you and I. I am heartened that, judging from the comments that my first book has received from people around the world, my work seems to be having this effect. Net proceeds from this book are given to Home Horizon: Transitional Support Program.#cinqque5tion with Photographer Leah Denbok

Biography Jessica Danov has been performing in some way or another since she was old enough to dress herself (the choice to pair cords with stripes for her kindergarten photo is a source of pride to this day). From singing for the bus driver and his passengers every morning on the way to daycare, founding the drama club at her arts deprived high school, to fearlessly tackling the role of Stephano (the drunken butler) in Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Jessica always knew that acting was what she wanted to do when she grew up, she just didn’t know the best way to go about it. Enter Fanshawe College and their two year intensive Theatre Arts Program. The teachers’ approach to the craft immediately clicked for her and inspired a new level of commitment and perseverance. Since graduating Jessica has sunk her teeth into a wide range of roles including Tyler in Neil LaBute’s Some Girl(s), Hero in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, Natalie in Jennie’s House of Joy (for which she received a stellar review) and Betty in the feature film The Weight. She is also a writer, yoga enthusiast, and master baker in the making who speaks basic French (apparently ‘Quebecois’ French according to the Parisians she met on a student exchange) and aspires to learn more than just the words for milk, tea, grandmother, and grandfather that she already knows in Macedonian. Her acting ambitions include working on the locally filmed series Hannibal or in any feature opposite Sam Rockwell.#cinqque5tion with Actor, Writer, Producer Jessica Danov (by: Jovin Tardif)
