Today on What On What’s Good, we listen to Toronto-based GRAMMY Award-winning musician, composer, and producer Larnell Lewis. He just released his new album ‘Relive the Moment’.   Lewis is known for playing drums for the Brooklyn-based jazz fusion band Snarky Puppy. He released his debut album In the Moment in 2018. Today, I had the opportunity to listen to the album and pick my favourite song below.

Quote from Larnell Lewis regarding the album

For this album, I took the opportunity to reimagine six compositions from my debut album by recording new live drum performances. The closing track, The Forgotten Ones, is new to this collection of songs and pays tribute to my ancestral lineage. I truly love telling stories through music, especially when it means that I get to relive my moments from a place of wisdom and celebration. With this album, I hope you too are able to reflect on your own defining moments and cherish those memories.

Express Review

Very cool album. In the past, I like to play a game that I like to call #ucanonlypick1 song from the album.  Hmmm…this is going to be a tough one. They are all great but my favourite from the album is Track 7 “The Forgotten Ones”.  It is an emotional open solo paying tribute to Lewis’ ancestral lineage.

Tell us your pick.
