Movie Review: The Warrant before debuting on INSP

With Father’s Day just around the corner, what should I get for my dad this year? Typically, my conversations with Papa are about sports, television, and movies.  I suppose I can start there.  Our back and forth conversations together are always quite amusing. We always try to stump one another to see what we may have missed.  This year, I figured I would look through my movie collection to find that perfect film during this unique time in history.  He is a fan of Steve McQueen so I grabbed ‘The Cincinnati Kid’, ‘Bullitt’, ‘The Getaway’, ‘The Great Escape’, and ‘Papillon’.  But, I still wasn’t sure.  While debating, I received a message to review ‘The Warrant’ before the premiere on INSP this Father’s Day Weekend.  The cast: Neal McDonough, Steven R McQueen, Casper Van Dien, Annabeth Gish, and Gregory Cruz.  Hmmm…this might change everything.

Synopsis: The Warrant

‘The Warrant’ is a thrilling action-packed Western adventure about father-son relationships broken by the effects of the Civil War. Neal McDonough (Yellowstone, Captain America, Band of Brothers) and Steven R McQueen (The Vampire Diaries, Chicago Fire) star as father and son who must leave differences in the past for the ultimate pursuit of justice.  Annabeth Gish plays Bonnie Breaker in ‘The Warrant’.

The Director of ‘The Warrant’ is Brent Christy (The Legend of 5 Mile Cave) with screenplay writer Shea Sizemore (Heritage Falls). Gary Wheeler (The Legend of 5 Mile Cave, War Room) and Jason White (Christmas on the Range) serve as producers.

Like Grandfather, Like Grandson: “The King of Cool” Steve McQueen and Steven R McQueen Featured in Content This Month on INSP Fans of the iconic Steve McQueen might feel a sense of déjà vu when watching INSP this June, as The Warrant, the latest film starring McQueen’s grandson, Steven R McQueen will make its debut on the network.

What On What’s Good – The Warrant Review

The filming by director Brent Cristy was fantastic.  There was one particular scene that filmmakers will find very picturesque. It’s the moment when Sheriff John Breaker (Neal McDonough), his son, Cal (Steven R McQueen), and Bugle (Gregory Cruz) are galloping across the water in search of the Saint (Casper Van Dien – Starship Troopers, Tarzan).  The story is quite enticing as father and son need to work together to deliver an arrest warrant to John’s former Union Army buddy “The Saint”.  At the beginning of the movie, you asked yourself will the father and son co-exist or will there be tension?  I was particularly intrigued to watch actor Steven R McQueen.  His role in ‘The Warrant’ is reminiscent of the one played by his grandfather more than 60 years ago in the classic Western ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’. As you will see, his character only uses his gun in self-defense.

If you are looking for a great gift for dad, you should check out ‘The Warrant’ on Saturday, June 20th at 8 PM ET on INSP.  I will most likely have a discussion with my dad about “The King of Cool” Steve McQueen vs. grandson Steven R. McQueen.
